We've read the reviews lately in the Vallarta Tribune about Bruce's new Teatro Limón, open about 1 month, near San Javier Hospital. Thank you, Tribune, for providing a way that restaurant lovers can share this type of information! So many of our friends have all returned to Vallarta for post-holiday high season, that we all decided to combine visiting with a gourmet night out on the town. So...16 of us went to the new Teatro Limon tonight, and it was so absolutely delicious and fun that we all agreed we needed to tell the Tribune all about it. When we made the reservation, Bruce decided that our size group would be best for the Chef's Dinner. He told us he would surprise us with 4 courses, his choices, for a terrific price of $350 pesos per person plus our beverages. We were treated to course after course of dishes that were as beautiful as they were delicious - first a mozzarella and tomato salad plus a salad of blue cheese/gorgonzola on greens. Then delicious shrimp. Then stuffed crab with buerre blanc...all magnificent. The special of the house was the main course, perfectly cooked rack of lamb with an amazing sauce, served with potatoes and colorful crisp veggies. He surprised us with the opportunity to taste an extra treat - a blackberry and cream tart for dessert that knocked our socks off. Throughout the meal Bruce came to visit us, explained the dishes and ingredients, and checked throughout the evening to be sure we were enjoying ourselves. He couldn't have thought otherwise, given the big smiles and rave reviews. The open kitchen only a few feet away let us watch his preparations, which added to the fun. After the meal, we all gave him a spontaneous round of applause, and we are all anxious to return. One couple decided to have an elegant wedding rehearsal dinner there later this year. His regular menu was so intriguing, another friend wishes he could visit it every day until he works his way through all the choices, one a night. For those interested, Bruce will do his Chef's Dinner for 4 or more people. We heartily recommend it, for an evening out or especially for visiting guests you want to entertain with a memorable evening. We encourage others to try this delightful experience. Enjoy! L.
